My kittens are born in my bedroom, where they stay until they are 3 - 4 weeks old. They and mum are then moved downstairs into the dining room for 4 - 5 weeks, before they start exploring the rest of the cottage. I keep their mum with them until they go to their new homes as I feel that many manners and skills are learned from their mums - besides - the mums love them!
When the kittens go to their new homes, they are fully vaccinated, vet-checked, registered with GCCF and insured for 6 weeks. They are also used to being part of the family and have encountered such strange beasts as the washing machine, television, and - the bain of their lives - the vacuum cleaner!
